Product Details

The Hoya, commonly known as the Hoya plant or Wax plant is a genus of flowering plants that belongs to the Apocynaceae family.

Hoya plants typically have vining growth habits, with long, slender stems that produce clusters of waxy, star-shaped flowers. The leaves are often thick and fleshy, ranging in shape and size depending on the species. The flowers are usually fragrant and can come in various colors, including pink, white, red, and yellow.

Light: Hoya plants thrive in bright, indirect light. They prefer a few hours of direct sunlight each day but can tolerate lower light conditions. Avoid exposing them to intense, direct sunlight for extended periods, as it can scorch the leaves.

Temperature: These plants prefer warm temperatures between 65°F and 80°F (18°C and 27°C). They are sensitive to cold drafts and temperature fluctuations, so avoid placing them in areas with cold drafts or near air conditioning units.

Watering: Moderate watering. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering again. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so it's essential to provide adequate drainage and avoid letting the plant sit in water. During the winter months, reduce watering frequency.

Humidity: Hoya plants appreciate moderate humidity levels, but they can tolerate average household humidity. To increase humidity, you can mist the leaves regularly or place the plant on a tray filled with water and pebbles.

Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix. A mixture of peat moss, perlite, and orchid bark works well. The soil should retain some moisture while allowing excess water to drain freely.

Fertilization: Feed Hoya plants with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half the recommended strength. Apply the fertilizer during the growing season, typically from spring to summer, every four to six weeks. Reduce or stop fertilizing during the dormant period in winter.
